Here is my Mom’s very old Hot Milk Sponge recipe:
90 Grams Marge or Butter (I always use butter)
375ml Flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
125ml milk 250ml sugar
3 eggs
1-teaspoon vanilla essence:
Method: Place butter and milk in a pot and bring to boiling point - in the meantime beat eggs well, add vanilla and sugar and beat until bubbles appear, sift flour and baking powder into the mixture then add all at once the hot milk and butter and mix together, pour into a baking tin which is well greased bake for 15 to 20 min. at 180 - for chocolate cake Add 2 tablespoons cocoa to flour before sifting I sometimes mix a teaspoon of coffee with the hot milk it makes it a darker and more rich nice, when cool I cut through the middle and ice it.
Well hope you’ll enjoy this wish we were there to have some too.
