On the weekend Joshua came out his room and got a pair of scissors - his paper scissors - they are quite sharp. So I went to go check what he was doing in his room. He was making a castle out of cardboard boxes and obviously needed it to cut windows etc. Then he came out and got the sellotape. Went back in the room for a while and came out again carrying the scissors. He walked over the Sebastian who was deep into a PC game, and snipped off a large piece of his hair at the back by the crown. I of course freaked out and sent him to the “naughty corner”. He sobbed and sobbed and then afterwards told me he just needed it for the castle to put under the crystal, and he did not know it was a naughty thing to do. Sebastian did not notice so we are just not telling him, and he has not seen the spikey bit at the back yet.

Micki bought these sour sweeties for the kids.
First square of my blanket for my bed. Pattern here.
When unpacking my boxes I got a book I have saved from years ago. I was given it in 1981.
You can see in the index I have marked off each story as it has been read and indicated which are poems.
I see however that “Grandma’s Hat” on page 38 “Ben’s Special Day” on page 46 seems to be unread and this is bothering me so I am going to read them to the boys tonight and then I can mark them as read. At least I had marked them as unread.
Then there is another book I got from my Mom off her book shelf that belonged to me. I had a library and had all my books numbered and catalogued - it seems Mom checked this book out in 1980 and still had it. BIG FINE!!
All this has led me to realise that I must have always been slightly OCD / Anal Retentive since a child and not only of late. I still have to put the toilet roll on the right way - with Andrex the dog must always face up so that you pull the roll from the top not the bottom, I often correct this in other people’s homes if its not the right way up. If I am walking on my own with no-one to distract me I count my steps. I can’t help but read everything with writing on. I read the instructions on the back of the shampoo everytime I wash my hair, I can’t not. Yet my house is in a constant mess. However when I do tidy I become obsessed and end up moving the whole house around.
A curious little visitor who came a calling today to say hello. Diesel was going off his head barking at it.
My attempts at the cactus pincushion. This is the second and more succesfull one.
This is the first attempt that was not too good so I turned it into a toy for Sebastian.
The two together to compare. First was done on a 4mm hook and the second (smaller one) was done with a 3mm hook and same woo.
Joshua asked for a crochet birthday cake. So here it is !!
