My laptop has had these days when it will not boot - the drive turns and then it stops and the boot fails and you have to begin again. I have always thought this was due to the fact that the battery is kaput and have just kept trying till it boots and then carry on with the power plugged in and not use it off the kaput battery. Today it did this again, after try 20 I went and had a coffee and calmed myself down then tried again - it took till about try 30 and then vooooom started. Anyway I have found out that its the harddrive and that its almost gone - will most likely crash soon and I will loose everything. AAAAAAAAAAAA so now I am really stressed as you can imagine, I have given up on the desktop a while ago because I have to run it with the box open and close to cold air or it freaks out and blue screens on me. I am as we talk busy uploading all my important files to my internet webspace so that can be my backup (thanks Mark for the good idea) but am really stressing as I really do not want the laptop to crash on me now.
I had a look on EBAY and there are several systems identical to mine that people are selling with broken harddrives so it must be an issue with them. They are going for between 50 and 80 as spare parts. So now I am really worried. I am thinking maybe to sell it before it crashes for good and also sell the PC and replace with a laptop that will work better for me. This one is after all over 4 years old so it has really done me well. Its really slow now and I have to go have a coffee when loading up and saving things in photoshop etc so that is annoying also. I really need it for the web work and cannot have a slow machine and will never buy a second hand one. ugggghhhhhhh
